Annual General Meeting Notices This year's AGM will be held at the Bull and Dog, Marshall’s Cross Road on Monday 6th September 2010, 7.30pm. Please do your best to attend, the Committee needs the support of its members to conduct the business of the Club. This meeting is particularly
important as a new Constitution is being proposed and must be voted on by the
members. A notice is also displayed for the nomination of Committee members. Nominations can also be made via e-mail to the Secretary – Christine Dempsey dempsey90@blueyonder.co.uk and should be received 2 weeks prior to the AGM. Week commencing 2 August

National Junior League - 25 July - Bebington The club finished a splendid fifth, recording its best result of the season. James Owen broke the Junior shot record with 9.48, while James Jones was only centimetres from beating the mark previously held by Jake Davidson. Both James' set personal bests with James Owen recording 24.92 HT, 22.08 DT while James Jones 21.90 HT, 22.32 DT added the javelin with 23.87 As both lads have only just started training their initial performances are are very encouraging. John Ashcroft pulled off a middle distance double (800 - 2.00.4 & 1500 4.11.6), Steve Clague was second in the steeplechase with 7.32.3 while Nathan Orr recorded 18.12 in the javelin. Patricia Spark represented the girls with a personal best 35.67 HT, 8.21 SP and 14.2 100. Second claim member, Abby Fitzpatrick recorded 64.8 in the 400H while James Gladman and Adam Nichols contested the sprints and jumps while James Webster and Steve Clague each won their 400H races for maximum points. Many thanks to Colin Spark and Steve Clague for dealing with the on the day management and thanks to those athletes who were able to let us know about their availability. Contrary to what the fixtures page states there is
no Open Meeting at Warrington on Sunday 25 July. The only club fixture is the
National Junior League final match (for U17's and U20's) at
Bebington.
Young Athletes League - Wavertree 18 July The club finished third with 260 points. Trafford Meeting 13 July David Forrester and Gemma Connolly were both back in action, David recording 1.51.09(800) and Gemma 4.50.09 (1500). Matthew Shirling set a new club U15 record over 1500 with 4.06.22, knocking 8 seconds off his pb and recording the fastest UK time this year (17th on the all time UK list). It also means that Matthew has removed David's name from the U15 record books over 800 and 1500. Jake Healey recorded 2.06.9, Jamie Webb 2.10 and Steve Cooper 2.18.7 over 800m. Results Weekend Round Up:11 July Gemma Connolly recorded 17.21 in the Lancashire 5k road race at Blackburn, while David Forrester was timed at 3.48.at the Nike BMC Grand Prix at Solihull. Cheshire League Match 11 July Eccles On Sunday ten young athletes travelled to Salford Met to compete in the Cheshire league. Overall we achieved one grade 3 and four grade 4s. 2 personal bests were achieved by Taylor and Rachael. All athletes tried their hardest in hot conditions and they should all be very proud of themselves. (Team Manager Helena McGoldrick) Full Results Results: ESSA Championships 9 & 10 July - Birmingham Friday: Matthew Shirling reached Saturday's final of the JB 1500m, recording a National Standard 4.13.89 finishing fourth in his heat. John Ashcroft, who's been holidaying in Barcelona since Sunday, missed qualifying for the SB 1500m final by two places in a time of 4.01.12. Heather Drillingcourt recorded 12.69 taking sixth place in her SG 100m heat while Patricia Spark threw the hammer 30.67 to claim nineteenth place in the IG final. Matthew Crehan claimed tenth spot in the 1500m heat in 4.10.59. According to Jim Crehan, Matt "was ideally placed with 300m to go when a sharp pain in his troublesome calf caused him to slow down and hop to the finish line." Hopefully rest, recovery and recuperation will see him make a quick comeback. Saturday: Matthew Shirling finished fourth in the JB 800 in
another national standard time (4.14.94) - the race was won in 4.13.10
- while Katherine Sumner
took sixteenth place in the SG Hammer with 35.37m,
with her one legal throw. Michael Causer,
whose participation was in doubt
owing to injury, finished twentieth
with 5.93
in the IB long jump.
Congratulations to all athletes. Hopefully this will act as motivation to
compete in national championships in the future. Northern League -Stretford 4 July Despite a number of absences and injuries the club finished a close up fourth and still lie in second place overall with a chance of making it to the Promotion Match for the first time if we can get a full turn out at Liverpool on Sunday 1 August.
