London Marathon - 25th April
Well done to the trio of Senior Men who competed in the Marathon this.year.
First back in a great time was Tuhin Wahid ( 2.47.05). Bramhall Park parkrun National Junior League Robin Park, Wigan - 25th April A few athletes competed in the first Junior league held at Wigan. James Gladman ran well in the 100m finishing 2nd in 11.3 his team mate Adam Nicholls was 6th in the other 100m with a time of 12.1. James matched his position in the 200m with a time of 22.5. Adam also competed in both the long and triple jumps finishing 3rd in both. In the 800m Jamie Webb had an excellent run, competing for the first time in this league, finishing 5th in a time of 2.09.5. Jake Healey finished 3rd in his 800m in a time of 2.19.6. Jamie also had a go at the 400m and finished well in a time of 63.8. Nathan Brown finished 5th in both the 1500m (4.35.8) and the long jump (4.50). Five ladies managed to turn out: Heather Drillingcourt had a strong run in the (A)100m finishing 3rd (13.1) she also jumped well in the (B) long jump to finish 2nd with a jump measuring 4.60. Rachel Wilcock finished 7th in the 800m with a time of 3.00.4. In the hammer and shot, Tricia Spark finished 4th, her first time in this league. She managed to throw 8.12 in the shot but her best performance was in the hammer where she obtained a personal best of 32.71. Tricia also competed in the (B)100m finishing 6th in 14.2. Sophie Rigby came 2nd in the (A)long jump (5.07) and 4th in the (A)high jump (1.50) and her team mate, Amy Hughes came 3rd in the B competition with a jump of 1.40. The ladies managed to make a team for the 4x100m relay and all (Sophie, Natalie, Amy and Tricia) ran exceptionally well to finish 3rd in a time of 54.2. Report by Sue Clague Team Manager Health and Safety Notice - Re Track and Field Please note: non club members are not permitted on either the track or field during training as they are not covered by insurance in the event of an accident. Whitely 10k - 18th April Ian White ran the Whitley 10k coming home 49th (18th in category) in time of 39:22. Young Athletes Competition The Young Athletes League is for U13s up to and including U17s. The club are adopting a new system for the Young Athletes League meeting this season. As from tonight (13th April) there will be a list of events up on the Club Blackboard. Please fill in your child's availability and which events they prefer to do. If you are not sure, fill it in anyway and speak with your coach for advice. Remember apart from your chosen events you will almost certainly be asked to do field events and other track events. Don't forget the relays. Please note that this is a team event and we need numbers to gain valuable points. There will be something to do for everyone who can turn up. Please also be aware the final selection decision of events will be with the Team Manager on the day. Please fill in the form ASAP and support your Club. The next track and field meeting is at Warrington on Saturday 17
April. Easter Weekend Races. Matt Crehan and Jake Healy finished first and fifth junior men respectively at the Southport Good Friday road race. John Ashcroft and Gemma Connolly were second in the Halton 5 on Easter Sunday, John finishing less than half a minute behind Richard Burney and Gemma finishing closer than ever to Jenny Clague. There were excellent performances from Jamie White and Ian Costello and a very good turn out from the veterans including Steve Tate, John Appleton, Ewan Dawick, Cheryl Orrick, Pam Appleton, Rosie O'Hagan, Linda White, Connor Murphy, Jane Ashcroft, Pauline Picton and Janice Lawson. On the following Wednesday Mark Davies contested the Chester Spring 5 as part of his racing to fitness programme. Bearing in mind we have no formal confirmation this is correct anyone competing is advised to contact the Race Secretary.
