Chester Round The Walls Race 26 December.

For the sixth time in its history and the second year in succession snow and ice confined the race to the Roodee, four circuits using a two lap course with just over three miles on snow. Ian Costello sharpened up finishing 22nd  in 23.26.

2011 Annual Subscriptions

The committee would like to remind all members that their annual subscriptions for 2011 will be due shortly . 

Sports Centre Use: 2011.

Sutton Sports College has been re-designated as Sutton Academy. Although this does not affect the club's use of the track, field and indoor facilities in the evening, it does mean the facilities are closed to the public on weekdays until 4 p.m and close at 10pm..

Training and Racing : Christmas and New Year

The last club training night of 2010 will be Thursday 23 December and the first of 2011 Tuesday 4 January 2011. Individual training sessions may take place during the holidays, arranged by individual coaches - please speak to them if you are interested.

The first race of 2010 will be the Manchester Area League match at Stockport on Sunday 2 January where a good turnout is required.   Enjoy the break but  make sure you do some training over the Christmas period!

Taylor Caton-Hand competed at this meeting recording 8.0 (60m), 5.53 (long jump) and 1.60 (high jump)

L&D Cross Country, Beacon Park - 12 December.

Eight Sutton runners braved the hills and usual mud to run the final fixture in the L&D league in this hard, true cross country course.  The Sutton team were lead home by  Alan McNally (39:16, 39th), followed in by Rob Kennedy (39:56, 45th) with a strong, confident run for his second race.  Paul Kay ( 40:08, 50th) was next in, followed by Ray Vose (40:56, 55th) and Greg Cairns (41:38, 59th).  The final trio of Phil Robinson (47:10, 91st), Sharon Nunn (53:26, 101st) and Judy Drummond (66:33, 105th) completed the team.

Great to see another good turnout for the league match. Well done to all for supporting this league, especially as the L&D have tried hard to accommodate us by avoiding  the MAL Cross Country fixtures.  The team finished 7th overall in the league.

Indoor Meeting - Sportscity - 5 December.

A trio of athletes took part in this open meeting, all of whom contested the 60m and long jump as follows.

Manchester League Cross Country, Match 3 - Boggart Hole Clough, 4 December.

On Saturday 10 youngsters travelled to Boggart Hole Cclough for a true cross country race.  We had two u11 girls 2.2km Alex 13th 6.07 and Rosie 23rd 6.59  Joe was 10th 9.35 in the u11 boys 2.4km .We had a team in the u15 girls 3km  Rachel 10th 15.25 Vicky 12th 15.30 and Maria 18th 16.45 the team came 5th  Matt once again came home 1st covering 4.5km in 11.03. The u17 boys 4.8km had a team Jamie Webb 6th 15.37, Nathan 8th 15.58 and Jamie White 10th 16.28. The team came 2nd.
Well done to all who braved the snow and cold to compete on a true cross country course .You all did the club proud.

Nine of St Helens Sutton AC's most hardy Senior athletes competed in match 3, Manchester Area League Cross Country which took place at Boggart Hole Clough, Manchester on Saturday 12th December 2010, on a grim, icy and bitter cold day. Racing in exceptionally tough conditions 1st home John Ashcroft 18 (3rd U20) 36.07, 2nd Rob Marsh 84 40.42, 3rd an improving Alan McNally 100 (17th V45) 42.08, 4th Mark Davies 108 42.26, 5th Mark Liptrot 114 (20th V45) 42.41, 6th Ian Hayburn 138 (24th V40) 44.11, 7th Chris Levy 146 44.53, 8th Peter Johnson 170 (28th V40) & 9th Phil Robinson 208 (32 V40) 50.15. A great effort from all Athletes that competed (ST)

 Three senior ladies turned out for the club today on this cold and icy day in Manchester (sadly owing to various injuries we were one short of fielding a scoring team).  Gemma Connolly finished in 3rd place overall in a time of 26.35 (looking good in the aggregate competition at the moment) with Sharon Nunn finishing next in 84th place(12th L40 in 36.15) and Judi Drummond bringing us home in 43.48 for 107th place (19th L35).  All three ladies have been present at all of the Manchester League meetings so far so are looking good for positions in the the Club Cross Country League table.  Well done ladies let's keep this 100% record going through the season to show a strong club presence at all of the remaining matches. Gemma Connolly.
