North West Road Relays - Manchester 20 March

The Senior Ladies continued their tradition of fielding a team in the Northern Six Stage Road Relays finishing 25th on a sunny day at Wythenshawe Park (sun in Manchester who would have thought it!).  The team comprised of Gemma Connolly who took on the first leg and came back in 9th position (17.38) before handing over to Julia Eccleston who "ran faster than I have done since this time last year" and held on well to finish in 17th position (21.44) Rosie O'Hagan completed the third leg in 23.36 to pass over to Cheryl Orrick on fourth leg in 22nd position.  Cheryl ran well despite a tight hamstring (I hope it's better for Wilmslow on Sunday) and came home in 24th position (23.51) before Chris Dempsey ran the penultimate leg (24.11 25th place).  Pam Appleton brought the team home on the sixth and final leg of the day,  maintaining Chris' 25th place (24.06) despite in her words, being "an old crock".  Thanks for turning out Pam despite the injury and allergic reaction and a big well done to everyone who ran on the day and allowed the team to uphold the tradition. Report from Gemma Connolly. Results

Presentation Evening, Rainhill Club and Sports Lounge : Friday 5th March

The presentation evening was held in a new venue this year, a good find and a popular one given the increased attendance.
The evening is primarily a social event that includes the presentation of awards for last year's competitions.
Congratulations to all winners of trophies and medals, a full list of winners will follow.
As well as the presentations there was a lively Disco (thanks Danny) and even livelier dancing, from all ages! It was a great night and the event made a good profit.
A big thanks to everybody who came, bought raffle tickets, played the whiskey bottle game and placed bids in the auction.
We managed to raise £471 which will be used to promote the Club to new Members and also raise the profile of the Club.
Every penny will be used wisely.

A big thanks also to Sue and Lynn who spent many hours, at late notice, organising the event and everyone else who helped on the night.
It was good to see so many people turn up and enjoy themselves. Training on Saturday was a difficult task for all!!

It is planned to hold another evening in the summer so please look out for the notices and support your Club. Thanks again for everyone's support.
