they even managed to have a great day with the weather! The team came second overall in the final

2014 Fell Running Championship Update
Six races into the champs and there have been some good turnouts so far with almost everyone enjoying themselves. The exception being big Dave Hampson, who was heard to say "Never again!" after completing the 2 Lads fell race from Horwich. I think he said the same after the Shepherd's Skyline three years ago, so I'm sure that we can tempt him back. We had six runners at both Two Lads and Harrock Hill, giving the club a strong presence with the coveted white, red and black vest proudly on show.
In the ladies championship Sonya Monaghan has been the only competitor, chalking up three victories and is looking certain to be crowned "Queen of the Fells" at the end of the year. Come on ladies - let's see a few more of you at the last four races.
It's a bit harder to tell who's leading the men as everyone has done a different number of races. Applying a "best 3 out of 6" (I think that makes sense as the final results will be best 5 from 10), fell runner extraordinaire and downhill king Mark Liptrot leads the way with 5 points and 2 victories. Closely followed by Greg Carns with 5 points and 1 victory. Currently in third place is fell-convert Gary Oldham with 6 points and 1 victory. Gary has an impressive 100% attendance if you ignore Rivington Pike which no-one went to and is clearly relishing being off-tarmac.
It has been mentioned that with no-one turning up the Easter weekend fixture at Rivington Pike it might be worth adding another race into the fixture list – any suggestions welcome.
The next race is at Hade’s Hill, Whitworth near Rochdale on Thursday 4th September. Let’s see if was can get a record turnout!
