Annual
General Meeting : 5 September :
Billy McMinnis presided
over the AGM held before an
enthusiastic membership at the
Bull & Dog. Phil
Thomas was re-elected
chairman and gave a review of
the previous year which is
available to all members by email.
Dave Morley left the
Committee and was replaced by
Barry Graney. Greg Williams
and Sarah Charnock won the
Athlete of the Year awards
with Ben Fisher's 3000m at
Wigan and Gill Bacon's
second place in the
Wilmslow Half Marathon judged
the most memorable senior
performances of the year.
David Forrester regained
the Billy McMinnis award by
finishing second in the
National cross country
championship, Steve Mayers
taking the junior male cross
country competition. The senior
awards went to Barry Graney
and Cecilia Fitzsimons with
the senior track and field points
competition for senior going to
Phil Robinson and Nicola
Quinn. Nicola also
collected the junior award,
Ben Fisher taking the
equivalent men's prize.
Other award winners were
Steve Moran, Lucy Mitchell, Jake
Davidson, Caroline Molrey, Steve
Knowles, Dennis Wharton, Ian White
and Sheru Gulati.
Ben was elected as
senior track and field captain
for 2006, Sue Lowrie
was re-elected women's captain.
The cross country captains
are Ian Hayburn and
Cecilia Fitzsimons.
Tom
Fillingham and Ken Crouch Memorial
Races:
To ensure
all athletes are back in training
and can attend the above races
they will; now take place on
Thursday 6 October at Sutton.
The Ken Crouch Race for
Ladies starts at 7.30.p.m.(handicapped
by Phil Thomas) and the
Tom Fillingham Race for
Senior Men (handicapped by
Ian White/ Ray Vose)
will be at 7.45.p.m. All
eligible athletes are urged to
take part in memory of both Ken
and Tom.
Winter
Training:
Although winter training has
already begun for some groups
full winter training will begin
in the first week in
October for the sprints,
jumps, throws, distance and
Sports Hall groups. Notification
will be given to all athletes in
the near future. The Sports Hall
will be used on Tuesdays
exclusively for the
younger groups participating in
Sports Hall competition this
winter. They will be under the
direction of Chris Dickinson
supported by Pauline
Picton, Andy Drillingcourt
and Carl Bibby with
assistance from Sean
Bannister.
On Thursdays the
Sports Hall will be used for
technical and strength work
exclusively by older members
of the sprints, throws and jumps
groups. The younger athletes
will be trained outdoors on
Thursdays. Coaches who are
expected to be indoors include
Phil Thomas, George Mullineux,
Roseanne Hutchinson, Joe Ehlen,
John Naylor, Dave Morley and
Michelle Murray.
