News From Committee:
The Committee has agreed to the establishment of a men's
and women's road racing championship starting in September 2004 and running
through to August 2005. There will be six races for ladies in women's only
events and six races for men in specified open competitions. Full
details of the races involved will be circulated to all relevant athletes
in the near future.
After full consultation with all parents of the primary
group it has been decided to leave the starting time at 6.30.p.m. as at
present. The club coaches will establish a working relationship
based on appropriate use of the track facilities.
Club membership has now passed the 300 mark
entitling the club to additional votes at various external meetings.
Terry Arnold Honoured by The Sports Hall Association
Life member Terry Arnold was very surprised to receive the
John Young Award for outstanding service to the North
West League. With typical modesty Terry said, "who me?
no... not me, ...."I haven't done anything"
That's Terry to a T, service not self. The under 11 girls' team
then put the icing on the cake by winning the League title while
the under 13 boys were second.
Northern Under 20 Track and Field Championships :
May 29 & 30.
The venue for this event has been moved from Manchester to
Wigan. Entry forms will be provided to qualifying athletes as
soon as possible.
