September Results 2006

24 September - Road and Track

Gemma Connolly added the Cheshire 10k title to her 5k track title when she finished third in the Guilden Sutton 10k, which included the Cheshire Championship. Gemma recorded 39.07 in 76th position. Rob Marsh was 29th in 37.41, Billy Mousdale 42.40 (88), Tommy Dunning 46.00 (131) and Jo Clisham -Marsh 48.29 (165) also completing the course. Results

Carl Parry completed his second marathon in three weeks finishing fifth in the Great Langdale race in 3.12.40 while Sarah Charnock enjoyed herself finishing fifth in the Half Marathon in 1.43.27. At Blackpool, Steve Knowles completed his most successful season to date with a 1.90 high jump clearance while Liane Bibby signed off her season with 12.6 in the under 13 80m.

17 September ESAA Pentathlon - Derby

Samantha Fraser became the club's seventh ESAA competitor for 2006 when she finished 25th in the Multi-Events Championship at Derby scoring a total of 2495pts. including a 12.55 hurdles, 9.26 shot, 1.47 high jump, 4.43 long jump and 2.56.25 (800). Cheshire were fifth team.

16 September - North West road Relays - Stockport

The club collected five sets of silver medals in the Merseyside section of the North West road relays making a total of 16 medals in total. Louise Hogg, Joanne Marsh and Julia Eccleston were second in the senior ladies while Greg Williams, Marc Laithwaite, Steve Mayers and John Appleton beat Wirral to collect silver in the men's race.

Both under 13 teams (Jamie White, Andrew Harvey and Jamie Webb for the boys) and (Louise Hayes, Rachael Wilcock and Kathryn Wilson) for the girls won runners up medals as did the under 15 Girls trio of Jemma Shaw, Lauren Bradshaw and Heather Drillingcourt.

The under 15 Boys trio of Adam Fackey, Danny Hughes and John Ashcroft were fifth but with Jake Healy and David Griffiths available in the winter will be in the medal places later in the season.

Both senior outfits finished B teams, Chris Dickinson, Chris Dempsey and Karen Jarvis finishing second B while Ian Hayburn, Rob Marsh, Julia Corfe and Barry Graney were third B. John Appleton (veteran), Tom Rigby, Dennis Wharton and Steve Tate (the later making his club debut) were the C team while the dependable Stan Erlam ensured the club started a fourth team while Nick Green was given an unofficial time for running the course.

Julia Hayes acted as team manager with Julia Eccleston and Ian Hayburn looking after the senior teams. There was plenty of parental and coaching support for another splendid effort on behalf of the club. Results 1 ; Results 2 ; Results 3 ; Pictures

10 September - Track results:

David Forrester won the 800m in the inaugural Schools' Olympics held at Scotstoun. Representing the North West, David won the 800m in a time of 1.55.69.

At Blackpool, there were medals for Samantha Fraser who won the shot putt (9.89), was second in the long jump (4.60) and took third in the hurdles (12.6). Michael Causer won the shot putt (6.65), took second in the long jump (4.01) and was placed fourth in the 100m (14.4). Danny Hughes picked up two thirds (200 - 28.5), 800 (2.23.6) and was fourth in the shot where he set a personal best (9.00). Dad Michael was fourth in the senior men's shot putt with 8.71. Liane Bibby took fifth place in the 100 (15.4) and long jumped 3.20 (18).

Wolverhampton Marathon 3 September:

Carl Parry finished fifth in the Wolverhampton Marathon in a time of 2.52.26, taking third place in the open competition.

Cheshire League: Ellesmere Port 3 September:

The final Cheshire League match of the season took place at a rain swept Ellesmere Port where some interesting performances took place including a senior relay team of Julia Eccleston, Chris Dickinson, Karen Jarvis and newcomer Ann Irwin (who looked remarkably like Stan), who stepped in to replace Julia Hayes.

The under 13 Girls quintet of Sophie Rigby, Tricia Spark, Louise Hayes, Kathryn Wilson and Emily Dickinson were in action in the 200, 800 and shot, while the under 15's trio were Katie Waterworth, Lauren Bradshaw and Sam Fraser (who left the meeting at Pendle, where she won the shot with 9.70, because it was too wet!!)., Michael Causer added the javelin to his extensive repertoire, Daniel Hughes competed in three of his favourite events as did Ben Clough. Chloe Rigby and Chelsea Jarvis showed a fair turn of speed in the under 11 sprints and 600 and were joined in the shorter event by Charlotte Hamilton. Merseyside Experimental Handicap Scheme: 6 September:

Adam Fackey and Daniel Hughes took the first two places available in the Under 15 Boys' section of this experimental scheme while Lauren Bradshaw also competed with distinction. Unfortunately, the scheme as a whole lacked some features which may be available next season, including more sprint orientated events, throws and jumps.
